چکیده

Discuss the scattering of a plane electromagnetic wave of angular frequency ω that is normally incident on a perfectly conducting cylinder of radius a (in vacuum) when the wavelength obeys λ a (ka 1). Comment also on the limit of large cylinders, ka 1, via the optical theorem. Extend the discussion to the case of small conducting elliptical cylinders, which have (small) flat strips as a limit. Relate the case of a small strip to that of a screen with a small slit using the electromagnetic version of Babinet’s principle.

Electromagnetic Scattering from a Perfect Electromagnetic Conductor Cylinder Buried in a Dielectric Half-space

An analytical solution is presented for the electromagnetic scattering from a perfect electromagnetic conducting circular cylinder, embedded in the dielectric half-space. The solution utilizes the spectral (plane wave) representations of the fields and accounts for all the multiple interactions between the buried circular cylinder and the dielectric interface separating the two half spaces.

Scattering by a Perfect Electromagnetic Conducting Elliptic Cylinder

An exact analytic solution is presented to the problem of scattering of a plane wave from a perfect electromagnetic conducting (PEMC) elliptic cylinder, using the method of separation of variables. The formulation is carried out by expanding the incident as well as the scattered electromagnetic fields in terms of appropriate angular and radial Mathieu functions and a set of expansion coefficien...

A Cwa-based Detection Procedure of a Perfectly-conducting Cylinder Buried in a Dielectric Half-space

The electromagnetic scattering problem of a short-pulse plane wave by a perfectly-conducting circular cylinder, buried in a dielectric half-space, is solved by means of a cylindrical-wave approach (CWA). The incident plane wave may have a rather general shape in the time domain. The technique is applicable for arbitrary polarization, for any cylinder size and burial depth, and it gives results ...

Scattering of a Plane Wave by a Small Conducting Sphere

Discuss the scattering of a plane electromagnetic wave of angular frequency ω that is incident on a perfectly conducting sphere of radius a, which is at rest, when the wavelength obeys λ a (ka 1). Calculate the electromagnetic fields and the Poynting vector everywhere, and interpret these fields in both the near and far zones. Consider incident electromagnetic waves of both linear and circular ...

Sea Surfaces Scattering by Multi-Order Small-Slope Approximation: a Monte-Carlo and Analytical Comparison

L-band electromagnetic scattering from two-dimensional random rough sea surfaces are calculated by first- and second-order Small-Slope Approximation (SSA1, 2) methods. Both analytical and numerical computations are utilized to calculate incoherent normalized radar cross-section (NRCS) in mono- and bi-static cases. For evaluating inverse Fourier transform, inverse fast Fourier transform (IFFT) i...
